The insurance market reported growing business for the first semester of this year
In first semester of 2008, the insurance company Ardaf, controlled by PPF Investments, recorded a growth of subscribed brute insurances, reaching 218 million RON, up 170% for the same period of the last year. On the first semester of 2007, the company has subscribed brute insurances totaling 80.93 million RON. According the company officials, this growth is due to the powerful increase in automobile and real-estate segment.
Also, the company Fata Insurance, part of the Italian group Generali, reported for the first six months of the year brute insurances increased by 115% from the same period of the last year and by 24% over estimated budget. Thus, the volume of subscribed brute insurances amounted in first semester of 2008 at 25.58 million RON, while the past year, in the same period, it was 12,5 million RON.

Groupama ended Asiban insurance company taking over
After the ending of Asiban Insurance Reinsurance acquisition (August 6th 2008) from BCR, BRD-Groupe Societe Generale, Transilvania Bank and CEC, as sellers, the French company Groupama achieved the 3rd place on the Romanian insurance market, with a market quota of over 12%.
Groupama International is part of French group Groupama, present on the Romanian insurance market, both in life insurances and in general insurances. The group activates in Romania through Transilvania BT Insurances and OTP Garancia Insurances.
